FAQ

Q:

I don't want to wear a mask.  Do I have to?

A:

No. We will be wearing a mask but it is not required that you do so.

Q:

How early should I get to my appointment?

A:

You should arrive at least 15 minutes early for your first session so you can fill out the necessary health paperwork.  Also, the sooner you arrive and finish the paperwork, the more time you’ll have to discuss your massage with your therapist.

Q:

What if I'm late?  Will I still get my full-time?

A:

Most likely not.  The massages are timed in such a way so that you can get full time but they generally don't have extra time to give to you if you are late.

Q:

Do I need to write down every health condition I have on the intake form?

A:

It would be best.  It is important to list all health concerns and medications so the therapist can adapt the session to your specific needs without doing any harm. It is also important to list any allergies.

Q:

Do I have to be completely naked?

A:

No.  For unclothed modalities, you should disrobe to your comfort level.  For full-body services, most get completely undressed or leave on their undergarments.  The therapist will work around whatever remaining clothes as best as they can but clothes cannot be worked under.  So, if you want something worked on skin to skin, clothes need to be clear of the space.  Of course, for clothed modalities, it won’t matter.

Q:

Will I be under a towel or a sheet?

A:

You will be under, at the least, a sheet.  When a certain area is about to be worked on, your therapist will professionally uncover the area.  This is called draping and most professional massage therapists will insist on draping.  There are areas of the body that will never be uncovered (such as genitals and breasts).

Q:

What do I do while getting massaged?

A:

Nothing except making yourself comfortable.  If your treatment requires you to do something different, you will be directed on how to do so by your therapist.  You can relax and listen to the music, you can talk with your therapist, or you can take a nap.  It’s whatever you are most comfortable with.

Q:

Will the massage hurt?

A:

Massage should not be painful. There is a difference between “hurts so good” and “breathing through your teeth”.  If you are chanting to yourself “this is for my better good” then you need to tell your therapist to go softer because it isn’t for your better good.  Pain can be an indication that the muscle is possibly injured or inflamed and pressure should be adjusted.  Also, pain can cause you to tighten up and negate the relaxing effects of the massage.  The most effective and deepest massage always works with your body's natural response, not against it.

Q:

How often should I get massage?

A:

This answer varies from person to person and case to case.  Some are only looking for occasional relaxation and only come in every couple of months.  Others are looking to address a specific issue and they come anywhere from once a month to every 3 days.  It is recommended that once a month is a target for most people wanting to maintain a maintenance schedule.

Q:

Can I talk during my session?

A:

Of course you can.  The sessions are all about you and your enjoyment of the experience.  Some people relax better with silence so they can float away and drift to the music.  Others relax by talking for about 10 minutes and then drifting off.  And there are others who need to talk with or to their massage therapist for the length of the session to relax.  All are welcomed here.

Q:

Can I bring my own music?

A:

Yes, you can.

Q:

Can I bring my own lotion?

A:

Yes, you can.

Q:

How will I feel after my massage?

A:

Most people feel very relaxed.  Some experience a significant decrease or freedom from long-term aches and pains.  Many feel a little slowed down for a short period and then notice an increase of energy, heightened awareness, and increased productivity which can last for days.  If you received a deep massage, you may be slightly sore the next day - much like a good workout at the gym.  Sometimes a hot shower or a soak in the tub can ease this soreness.  After your session, you should increase your water intake a bit.  Just a glass or two more than normal is usually fine.  This helps keep your body's tissues hydrated and healthy.

Q:

Is it ok to get a massage when I have a cold?

A:

No. You should not book a massage if you have a fever, cold/flu, or contagious skin infection.  Also, if you have a condition that “flares up”, you should not get a massage during one.  There are many other conditions in which your therapist may need to adapt their techniques (i.e. arthritis or osteoporosis) or avoid an area completely (i.e. cuts or burns).  With some conditions, it is a good idea to get approval from your physician before you receive massage (cancer, certain heart conditions, pregnancy).  This doesn't mean you can't get massage.  But its always better to err on the side of caution.

Q:

What if I get an erection during my massage?

A:

Erections happen. it’s nothing to worry about or be ashamed of.  Sometimes men get an erection during a non-sexual, therapeutic, full-body massage.  Touch administered to any part of the body can activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which can result in a partial or complete erection. An educated, professional massage therapist understands this and it will not be an issue for them.

Note: If the therapist feels that the session has turned sexual for the client, male or female, they may stop the session to clarify the client's intent, and may decide to end the session immediately.

Q:

What is your cancellation policy?

A:

Our cancellation policy is this: The client has 24 hours before the start of their session to cancel or re-book their appointment without any penalties.  If they cancel within the 24-hour window, they are responsible for half of the cost of the session.  If they do not show up for their appointment at all, they are responsible for the full cost of the session.  If the therapist has to cancel then you will not be charged, of course.

Q:

What if I wake up sick or there is an emergency?

A:

There may be understandable instances where your therapist may decide not to charge you.

Q:

What is your Refund Policy?

A:

Mostly there isn't one.  This is one of the benefits of the lower beginning costs.  If you don't like the massage, then you aren't out much.  But this is a business and we do not give out our services for free.  Of course, if the therapist is admittedly to blame for some wrongdoing that results in harm to the client, refunds may be given.

Q:

If I was a part of the Loyalty Rewards Program and I didn't receive any massages for over a year do I really have to buy the 3 massages again to rejoin?

A:

Yes.

Q:

But what if I haven't used the other ones I bought?  Why buy more?

A:

The savings are well worth it.  Not to mention that you can use them to pay for some of your massages.  The only time they wouldn't be a benefit to use would be Snap Deals or the 1st Half of the Rewards.

Q:

So if I was offered a Snap Deal but someone else got the appointment, can I still use the deal on a different appointment?  Can I save it for next month?

A:

No.  If the offer was taken up by another client before you could, the offer is then invalid and cannot be transferred.
